01/10/2018
This composition for 12 Saxophones Ensemble, written by Claudio Gabriele in 2005, is dedicated to the saxophonist Jean-Pierre Caens, who prepared the first world performance. Later this score was very successful, with performances in Europe, Asia and the United States, by renowned musicians like Jean-Michel Goury and Frederick Hemke. The latter declared: "Claudio Gabriele is one of the greatest composers for saxophone".
The piece is inspired by the illustrations of Dante's Inferno by Salvador Dali, who sets his paintings in the sun and warmth of the Mediterranean. The overall duration is about 10 minutes. the musical flow is continuous, alternating different timbric situations, always very colorful and
evocative; towards the end the piece reaches a sumptuous climax with a multiplication of polyphonies and intense waves of harmoniously rich sonorities.
2018,
